Tips for pasting text in from Word, Google Docs and other apps:

1. Use the 'remove formatting' icon after you paste it in and highlight it. This might also annoyingly remove formatting you actually want/care about, but it sometimes helps.

2. Do a select all and change the font and/or font size, and then change it back again to something else. Sometimes this works, for example, changing it all to Helvetica 14 and then back to Arial 12...

3.  On a Mac: paste in without formatting, by pasting with command- option-shift-v or command-shift-v rather than just command-v. This might work on a PC with Control Shift V? https://lifehacker.com/press-ctrl-shift-v-to-paste-text-without-formatting-in-5639828
