Flipgrid
Introduction
Flipgrid is a free video discussion platform from Microsoft that helps educators see and hear from every student in the class and foster a fun and supportive social learning environment. In Flipgrid, your professor will post discussion prompts and you will be able to respond with short videos. This support page appeals to all different learners. Quick Steps
Accessing a Flipgrid
Your professor will send you either a hyperlink to their topic on their Flipgrid or provide you with a Flipcode.
Click on the hyperlink (if provided by your professor) or head to flipgrid.com and click Enter a Flip Code.
In the Join a Grid box, enter your Flip Code and click the blue arrow.
The Flip Grid will appear and a list of topics will be available to you. Select the topic you wish to join and click the green plus sign.
You will be asked to Login to Record. You can choose to login with a Google account or your Microsoft account. Note: We recommend choosing Microsoft account and logging in with your school credentials.
Once logged in, you will be presented with a recording screen. Before recording, familiarize yourself with the various buttons that appear below your image: filters, text, stickers, drawing, board and custom sticker.
Note: depending on your machine, you may have to grant Flipgrid access to audio and video.
When ready, hit the record button. A timer will begin to countdown. Note: You will have a total of 90-seconds to complete your response. You can Redo your video at any time.
When you are finished, or when the time has run out, click Next.
You will be asked to take a selfie. This will be your video cover that will appear on the Flip Grid. Click the Camera button to proceed and then click Next.
The video submission screen will appear. Enter your name and optionally a title of your video and/or link to a website. When finished, click Submit my Video.
You will get a confirmation screen and a link to download/share your video and/or selfie. Your professor will be notified of your submission via email.
Detailed Steps

Note
Depending on your machine, you may have to grant Flipgrid access to audio and video. In your web browser this is typically done by clicking the padlock to the left of the URL web address near the top left of your browser window.
5. If you have a pre-recorded video on your device you would like to upload, you can also do that using the up arrow icon to the right of the record button.
6. When ready, hit the record button. A timer will begin to countdown. Note: You will have a total of 90-seconds to complete your response. You can Redo your video at any time.
7. When you are finished, or when the time has run out, click Next.
8. You will be asked to take a selfie. This will be your video cover that will appear on the Flip Grid web page. Click the Camera button to proceed and then click Next.

Creating a Flipgrid
Although in most cases, students will never need to create a Flipgrid, the following instructions are listed below in case it is ever needed:
1. Visit flipgrid.com and click Educator Signup.
2. Click the Sign up with Microsoft option and follow the steps to creating your account using your SSW Email Address and UMID. Note: You will have to authenticate via Duo.
3. Once signed in, click Add a Topic. You may also choose to familiarize yourself with Flipgrid by clicking the default Say Hello on Flipgrid topic that appears.
