Blackboard: Course Navigation Pane

Introduction

The Course Navigation Pane can be customized to your needs and liking. There is a Standard Pane that is provided with all courses, however you do have the option of adding items to the navigation pane or making adjustments. In particular, if you copy from a previous course to a new course, the navigation pane will add new entries to the bottom of the list of links. This page helps you fix these navigation pane challenges.

Standard Navigation Pane

The Standard Navigation Pane in Blackboard Learn Original courses has the following sections:

Core Components: Includes Course Welcome, Course Modules, Assignments, Exams, My Grades

Communication: Includes Concourse Sylllabus, Announcements, Discussion Board, Email, Groups, Zoom Meetings (if applicable)

Resources: Includes Help!, IDEA Knowledgebase, Class Roster, Calendar Tool, Library (HS/HSL), Video Resources, Course Evaluations

Adding a Menu Item

To add a menu item, you will need to make sure that the course is in Edit mode and then perform the following steps:

Moving a Menu Item

To move a menu item, you can either hover to the far left of the navigation pane until a double-sided arrow appears and then drag the menu item up.

Alternatively, you can use the Reorder icon to adjust elements and then click Submit.
