Engageli is a different approach to online group meetings (such as Zoom) with a focus on academic classrooms. Your instructor will be using Engageli to communicate with you Synchronously (live) during the semester.
From the Content area of a Course, click the Engageli link to begin
2. A new tab will open and the Engageli Classroom will appear. You are first placed in the Lobby where you can select your Camera, Microphone and Speaker from the drop-down menus.
3. When you are all set, click Enter Classroom to enter the Engageli class.
If you are unfamiliar with Engageli or need a refresher from the OMSW Orientation, the following Classroom Tour video will be helpful.
Below are some of the key features of Engageli
Transforms traditional virtual classrooms into interactive and collaborative spaces.
Enriches the learning experience for students and educators alike.
Engageli facilitates dynamic discussions and breakout sessions by using a unique Table based approach
Tables engage with the course material and each other, fostering a sense of community even in remote learning environments.
Lessons become more informative and engaging due to dynamic polls, word clouds, easy-to-use Raise Hand features for quick question asking.
Engageli integrates multimedia elements into its interface making it easier to follow a lecture or communicate and work as a group at a table.
Engageli has a feature that allows groups to meet together, without an instructor present. This group collaborative option utilizes the Playback room of the Engageli classroom. The steps can potentially be confusing so we have compiled them here for digestion:
The Group Leader will enter the Engageli classroom and select the Playback room tab at the top of the screen. Once selected, click Enter Playback Room
Once in the Playback room, the group leader will click the Invite & Info button. A link will appear in the middle of the screen.
Click Copy to copy the link. Then as group leader, you will need to share that with members of your group. This can be done in the Groups tab of Blackboard, via the Yellowdig community, email, or text message. It is not important how you share the link, just that your group members get the link.
Once other members get the link, they will click the link to access the group space. This is a permanent link and will remain the same link that you use throughout the course while doing group work.
For more information about the Group Collaboration space, please visit the Group Collaborate space article on the Engageli Knowledgebase.
In Engageli, sharing documents and PDFs allows instructors and participants to collaborate effectively by ensuring everyone can access the necessary materials. Your instructor will either turn sharing on or off for each class so you may have to request permission to share before proceeding.
1. Ensure your document is saved and easily accessible on your computer.
2. If your document is large, consider compressing it to ensure smooth sharing.
3. Have the document open and ready to be shared during your session.
Sharing Content
From the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, click the Present button.
You will be presented with a panel offering a number of different tasks. The panel is split into two main sections: Classroom activities and Table activites. There are more options to present content with the class than there are with individual tables.
If you wish to share a PDF, select PDF Share from the list. The ability to upload a PDF document, along with previously uploaded documents will appear. Should you wish to use the PDF at a later date or a future session, click the Save to Content for next session checkbox.
Action Tags are QR codes that you can embed into a presentation, PDF or Document. Including tags in your presentation slides and documents will reduce the cognitive load and orchestration required to conduct and manage your class, as the system automatically detects and presents you with the option to quickly enable the action. This frees up more of your time to focus on delivering the content you love, teaching in a more engaging way, and providing a smooth learning experience for your class.
